NAPIM is a trade association whose purpose is to provide information and assistance to its
members to better manage their businesses, and to represent the printing ink industry in the United States.
The National Association of Printing Ink Manufacturers (NAPIM) publishes an annual State of the Industry reports which provides current
information on the state of the printing ink manufacturing industry. NAPIM tracks, on a monthly basis, imports and exports of all types of printing inks.
Printing inks, like all chemical compounds, must be properly managed to ensure protection of human health, property, and the environment.
The storage, usage, and disposal of many of the chemical compounds used in printing inks are regulated through federal and state agencies as well as local authorities.
The National Printing Ink Research Institute (NPIRI - the research arm of NAPIM) supports printing ink technical development through its annual Technical Conference and Printing Ink Summer Course. NPIRI also supports the American Society for Testing and Materials
(ASTM) through participation on its inks and vehicles committees.

business, market, technical and regulatory information.
The health hazard classification of ink formulations has become more complex with the adoption of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling
of Chemicals (GHS) Ver. 3 by OSHA into the HazCom standard.
